Letter from the Retiring Chair, Announcement of New Committee

IMG_3140

I would like to thank everyone for my beautiful roses, and for the kind wishes I have received on finishing my 2 years as Chair of the Southern Branch.

It has been a privilege to make so many new friends.  It hasn’t just been me – I have had a great team on the committee, and I do have to say especially Tracy who’s has been an efficient, reliable and hard working member. We felt the handover to the new committee was so much easier because she had prepared things so well.

My very best wishes go to the new committee, and I know Erin  will make a great chair, and I am sure the Southern branch will continue to go from strength to strength.

Happy sewing,

Jane

Time for another IPS meeting!

Hope you have all had a productive month.

I think with all the workshops, sales, and groups which meet regularly, we all have a chance to sew every day.

I find as much as the learning, I enjoy the company and chat of any meeting I have with patchworking friends, so for all our new members, do take up any opportunities to go anywhere to sew, they really are great people.

I would like to invite you to our next meeting;

SATURDAY 13th FEBRUARY  2016

At Sacred Heart Church Hall Western Rd CORK

10am start.

We thankfully have an increasing number of new members, and to this end we will be having a table of BACK TO BASICS, to include list of terms, samples of sizes of fabric, (fat quarters, long quarters etc) cutters & notions to try out.

Dear Members,

November is upon us. I love this time of year; I think it’s ages until Christmas and I have loads of time to finish all of last years projects, make all the promised gifts, and make my own Christmas cards. If the last 20 years are anything to go by, very little of this will get done. But I live in hope!

We are still reeling after the wonderful Open Meeting in October. We had 72 visitors and members. Thank you again to everyone who made this possible.

Our next meeting is on SATURDAY 14th NOVEMBER 2015 at 10am.

Aine Foley  is bringing her shop from Lismore , and will give us a talk and demonstration.

We will have our usual Raffle, Show & Tell and Block of the Month.

The Christmas Challenge this year gives us plenty of chances to use our imagination.

As our meeting clashes with the Knit & Stitch show in Dublin,  we have a very small but enthusiastic committee. We would appreciate any help you can offer to help with tea and setting up etc.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday to enjoy our usual chat ,inspiration and ideas.

With Best Wishes

Jane

Letter from the chair.
September is here already!  Time to get out all those projects we put away in June, thinking it was ages before we had to think about them again.  I am thinking in particular of a Name Tag–our summer challenge.  Erin has given us lots of support on the internet all summer, so we have no excuse.  We have a new committee member, Susan Garde – welcome!- she has already proved very useful as our ‘local knowledge’  Colette has taken on the roll of membership secretary.

Our next meeting will be this Saturday 12th September at 10am.

It will be a great chance to catch up, show off all the summer work and get inspired for the winter.

Our shop will be Limerick Quilt Centre, and Maeve will be giving us a demo.

Please show your summer challenge with pride! The great prize will be a lucky dip, so everyone has a chance of winning.

The block of the month will be demonstrated by Erin, and we will do a recap of the blocks so far.

We hope to have a great  Show & Tell, please leave all your works of art at the front desk.

It is subscription time again, the annual subscription which goes straight to the executive is €40 .

Eilis (has stepped in again for us) will have a separate table for subscriptions.  PLEASE remember to bring this as it helps so much with administration.

It was agreed at our AGM in April that our door price would be increased to €4 and €8 for visitors. Still excellent value for a great morning of inspiration.

Tea and coffee will be provided, but again cakes etc depend on your generosity, and you have never let us down yet!

There will be our usual raffle.

Phew! Just in case you have given up the will to live, here it is in a nutshell:

Saturday 12th September 10am

Subscription € 40

Show & Tell

Summer challenge – name tag

Raffle

Limerick quilt Centre will be our shop

Maeve will give a talk/ demo

Entrance fee € 4 , visitors € 8 .
