Sept 2017 Meeting Recap

We opened with a welcome to everyone and a Congratulations to Mary Palmer and Anne Kiely on their win at the Birmingham Festival of Quilts in the two person category and of course Mary herself getting third in the Art category. Fantastic achievement.

Mary Hynes gave a Demo of a Christmas tree Block and will continue until December with a Christmas theme. Snowflakes and stars to come!!

We were delighted to welcome The Four Winds Group to speak on their work on Gee’s Bend Quilts. The Four Winds meet weekly in each other’s houses and have been together for 27 years!

They displayed their interpretation of a range of Gee’s Bend -style quilts. They also showed us the first Quilt they made as a group. We then got to see some of their Round Robin results, it was great to see how different and what fantastic work was produced.
