Welcome to 2019! I hope you managed a break over the busy Christmas season and made headway on a new project or a UFO. I woke each morning determined to sew… but… um… I’ve three more days before I go back to work!
We meet 12 January, 10:00 to 12:30 (ish) at Sacred Heart Church
We were delighted that both Santa and Mrs Claus could join us for the festive fun at the December meeting.
Thanks to the many members who brought their Christmas Postcard (congrats to Marie O Leary on winning the hamper), treats to share and a lovely selection of pieces for Show & Tell. Thanks to our quiz master Ann Prendergast for stretching our brains with very punny quilting questions. Well done to Aine’s winning team with 35/36 correct answers!
Fionnuala Creed’s button Christmas tree and other Christmas items
Marie Sprott’s gift of a banner, which turned out to have been made by Anne Maloney – which is why you should always label your work!

Mary O’Connor’s “when they know you are a quilter at work….”
Sheila Devereux’s framed piece

Tina Sullivan Hawkes – 3-D stuffed christmas trees
14 members stayed for the afternoon workshop and created their own Santas
With inspiration from Mid-western branch, this year’s Christmas Challenge is to make a postcard.
Packs with three fabrics and pelmet vilene were distributed at the November meeting – the challenge is to make a postcard using at least some of each of the three fabrics, plus any additional fabric you would like to include.
The Summer 2018 newsletter includes a postcard tutorial from Miriam Gogarty – it can be found here.
Please bring your finished postcard to the December meeting. All entries will go into a draw for a mini-hamper, then pop them in the post!
